TeliaSonera sees organic growth accelerate in Q3
(Telecompaper) TeliaSonera reported third-quarter sales down 1.1 percent to SEK 26.75 billion. Excluding the effects of currencies and acquisitions, sales were up 4.3 percent from a year earlier. TeliaSonera said it saw organic growth accelerating in mobile services, thanks to demand for smartphones and data services, as well as in its Eurasia operations following an economic recovery there. Mobile sales were up 2.6 percent to SEK 12.96 billion, and revenues from Eurasia increased 15.7 percent to SEK 4.28 billion, while sales from fixed-line services felll 9.4 percent to SEK 9.77 billion. Group EBITDA, excluding non-recurring items, increased 0.1 percent to a record SEK 9.78 billion, and the margin went up to 36.5 percent from 36.1 a year ago. The company’s net profit grew to SEK 5.99 billion from SEK 5.04 billion a year earlier, and earnings per share rose to SEK 1.33 from 1.12. The company raised its outlook for organic sales this year, to growth in line with the 3.4 percent rate reported over the first nine months of the year. This will also allow for a small increase in the underlying cost base, while the adjusted EBITDA margin should still be higher this year than in 2009. The operator forecast capex for the full year at 13.5 percent of sales, versus 11.4 percent in the first nine months. TeliaSonera added 4.2 million new customers in Q3, of which 2.0 million new subscriptions in the consolidated operations and 2.2 million at associated companies, for a total 156.6 million at end-September. The company also reiterated its expectation that the Spanish operation Yoigo will be EBITDA positive in Q4.[Lees verder]
