Outlook Express stops downloading email messages from the mail server. It downloads 3 of 21 messages, then hangs for a while, and then just stops resulting in the following error message: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: ‘mail.sarrcom.com’, Server: ‘mail.sarrcom.com’, Protocol: POP3, Server Response: ‘+OK 31958 octets’, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

The reason seems to be Norton Antivirus. The problem was easily solved by just temporarily switching email scanning off. In Norton, go to Options and click Email and turn scanning for incoming mails off. Now check your email. You won’t see the error again. By all means, don’t forget to turn incoming email scanning on again. And delete message you are suspicious of.
